Origami Turkey

How about this for a brilliant Thanks Giving turkey? Make your own origami turkey by following our easy step by step instructions.

Step 1: Place your square origami paper down in a diamond position.

Step 2: Fold the left side over to meet the right side

Step 3: Unfold the paper

Step 4: Fold the outer points in to meet the vertical centre crease line

Step 5: Fold the top point down inside the flaps as shown

Step 6: Press down and your paper should look like this

Step 7: Fold the right corner backwards. Repeat on the left side.

Step 8: Unfold the last creases.

Step 9: Open up the right side by lifting up the top layer of paper and folding it down towards the bottom right corner, as you do this, bring the inside top right corner down to meet the centre vertical crease line

Step 10: Keep lifting!

Step 11: When pressed down your paper should look like this

Step 12: Repeat step 10 on the left side, by opening up the left side by lifting up the top layer of paper and folding it down towards the bottom left corner, as you do this, bring the inside top left corner down to meet the centre vertical crease line.

Step 13: Fold the left point upwards so it is in line with the horizontal crease lines

Step 14: Repeat step 13 with the right point

Step 15: Fold the tips of the left and right triangles downwards as shown

Step 16: Fold the entire paper in half vertically

Step 17: Turn the paper 90 degrees to the left

Step 18: Fold the left and right points inwards and upwards as shown, creating the turkey’s tail and head

Step 19: Unfold the turkey’s body and turn the tail and head inside out, folding each part back on itself. Close the turkey

Step 20: Create the turkey’s head by folding the point on the right downwards

Step 21: Unfold the the turkey’s head and turn it inside out.

Step 22: To form the turkey’s beak fold the tip of the right point inwards on itself

Step 23: Add some eyes and lines for the tail feathers

Step 24: Open the turkey by widening its legs and body up so it can stand on its own
